What Every Nanny Needs to Know About Nutrition

This part teaches the nanny the basics of what makes food healthy or unhealthy for children. She learns about the key nutrients needed for brain growth, immunity, energy, and emotional regulation.

She is also trained to recognize harmful food habits such as offering too many sweets, using food as a bribe, or serving only fried or processed items.

The goal is to help the nanny make better food choices on a daily basis and understand why nutrition matters at every stage of development.

Age-Based Nutrition Guidelines, Meal Schedules & Meal Composition

Here, the nanny learns how to adapt food choices and portion sizes based on the child’s age. She is trained on recommended food groups for babies, toddlers, and older children, including what to serve, how much, and how often.

This part also covers how to space meals and snacks, what a balanced plate looks like, and how to support the child’s appetite without force-feeding or overfeeding.

She is reminded that consistency in meal timing helps children feel secure and reduces tantrums caused by hunger or sugar spikes.

Food Safety & Best Practices for Kitchen Hygiene

This part focuses on preventing food-related illness. The nanny learns the importance of handwashing, safe food storage, checking expiry dates, and avoiding cross-contamination during food prep.

She is taught proper dishwashing techniques, safe ways to thaw and reheat food, and how to keep surfaces and utensils clean. These habits reduce the risk of stomach infections, food poisoning, and exposure to harmful bacteria.

Managing Food Allergies & Special Dietary Needs

This section trains the nanny to take allergies and sensitivities seriously. She learns how to recognize symptoms of allergic reactions, what to do in an emergency, and how to avoid cross-contact when preparing food.

The nanny is also taught how to respect special dietary instructions related to health, religion, or family preference. She is reminded never to experiment or guess with restricted foods.

Teaching & Engaging Kids in Meal Preparation

This final part helps the nanny turn food into a learning experience. She learns how to involve children in age-appropriate ways such as washing vegetables, mixing ingredients, or setting the table.

The nanny is trained to encourage curiosity, teach names of foods, model healthy eating, and make mealtimes calmer and more enjoyable.

She is also shown how to avoid power struggles at the table and support picky eaters with patience and creativity.
